Complete Streets

Having Complete Streets is an important part of fostering active transportation in the County. It is a design philosophy that argues for accommodation of all street users when building roads. That means accommodating pedestrians and bicyclists as well as cars.

Complete Streets is not a singular set of solutions to apply to all roads. Instead, it suggests a wide range of design options, from traffic calming to bike lanes.

Today, many of our roads do not have sidewalks or bike lanes. This does not stop people from walking and biking on them. Acknowledging the mixed use of our streets will be key not only in increasing Active Transportation, but also increasing the overall safety of our transportation system.
